Research Scientist | Strigolactones and Allelochemicals Signaling

I have been a researcher at IJPB since 2008. Since September 2022, I have been studying plant-plant interactions at the rhizosphere level, with the aim of contributing to the development of molecules and plants that are better suited to agroecology and less polluting agriculture.
I completed my thesis on the cell cycle in plants, focusing specifically on the role of cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitors (CKI) in plant development (tobacco and Arabidopsis) under the supervision of Nathalie Glab in Orsay. I then became interested in the role of interactions between KNOX genes and hormones (gibberellins and cytokinin) in the control of meristematic activity in Arabidopsis and tomatoes in Miltos Tsiantis' laboratory at the University of Oxford (2003-2006). Back in France, at the ENS in Lyon with Charlie Scutt (plant reproduction and development laboratory), I studied the regulation of CUP-SHAPED COTYLEDONS transcription factors during carpel development in an “evo-devo” context (2006-2008). In 2008, I joined the IJPB at INRAE in Versailles to establish a new research project focusing on the mechanisms that regulate oil/protein homeostasis in Arabidopsis seeds. The objective was to identify genetic factors that regulate the distribution of reserves within the seed using quantitative and classical genetic approaches. Several QTLs (Quantitative Trait Loci) and EMS mutants were studied.  In September 2022, I joined the SAS team to work with Alexandre de Saint Germain on the study of plant-plant interactions via the release of specialized metabolites in the rhizosphere. My goal is to identify regulators of these interactions, known as allelopathic interactions, using quantitative genetic approaches. This project, which combines genetics, biochemistry and analytical chemistry, will ultimately enable us to identify new allelopathic compounds and develop new genotypes that are adapted to agricultural practices in line with agroecology.
